How to get my business on Google in Lebanon
To get your business on Google in Lebanon you need a claimed Business Profile, a pin that is actually your door, a name-address-phone that matches a website you control, and photos that look like the place. You do not need a secret trick, and nobody honest can promise a rank. Most “we are not on Google” cases I see are an unclaimed profile or a site that does not exist, not a curse on the neighbourhood.
This is the work you can do. Search quality changes. I will not invent policies or timelines. If Google’s own help pages disagree with a vendor, believe Google’s pages and your own login, not a Facebook ad.
Search your own name like a stranger
On a phone that is not logged into your Google account, search your shop name, then your service plus your area, in Arabic and in English. Note what appears: a Maps pin, a Facebook page from 2017, a competitor, nothing. That list is the brief. If the pin exists but you cannot edit it, someone else’s Gmail owns it. Recovering that is step one, before any website conversation.
If nothing local appears, you are not “bad at SEO”. You are absent. Absence is fixable. Ranking among ten clinics on the same street is a longer, slower, less certain job. Do not pay for the second job until the first is done.
Claim and tidy the Google Business Profile
Create or claim the profile. Verify by whatever method Google offers you at the time, postcard, phone, email, video, or whatever they currently show in the account. I will not list a method as guaranteed; they change it. Finish verification. Unverified profiles are how you stay a rumour.
Then match the sign on the building. If the facade says one name and the profile says another, pick one and use it everywhere: site, Instagram bio, receipts, WhatsApp about. Categories should be what you sell, not every keyword you wish people typed. Hours should be true, including generator days if you actually close. A phone that rings. A WhatsApp if that is how you answer, but the profile phone should still be a number a customer can tap.
Photos: the door, the room, the work, a team photo if you have consent. Stolen stock photos of Italian furniture for a Bekaa shop fool no one and help no one. Update when the place changes. A picture from before the renovation is how people walk past you.
The website Google can actually use
A Business Profile without a site is a pin with no brochure. A site without a profile is a brochure with no pin. They should share the same name, address, and phone. If you move, change both the same day. Google is not a mind reader. Conflicting NAP (name, address, phone) is a classic way to look like two weak businesses instead of one real one.
The site needs text Google can index: what you do, where you are, the languages you serve. A page of only photos helps Instagram more than search. Arabic and English as real pages if those are the queries. A map embed is fine; it does not replace the claimed profile. Click-to-call and WhatsApp on mobile, because that is how the tap happens.
Hosting should not be the PC in the shop. When the power dies, the page must still open for someone searching from a hotel. That is local SEO in Lebanon as much as any keyword.
Reviews, without theatre
Ask happy customers, after the work, if they would leave a review. Do not write them yourself. Do not buy them. Do not stand over someone with a script. Fake reviews get businesses in trouble and they read fake. A few honest paragraphs beat a wall of five-star one-liners from accounts with no photos.
Reply to the real ones, including the annoyed ones, in the language they used. “Message us on WhatsApp” is a better last line than a fight in public. You will not win every review. You can show you exist and you answer.
Ads versus existing
Paid ads can put you at the top of a results page for as long as you pay. They do not replace a profile and a site. If the landing page is an Instagram login, you are paying for bounce. If you do advertise, send people to a page that matches the promise and lets them call or chat without an account.
I will not tell you a budget. Markets differ. Start only when the unpaid basics exist, or you are renting a spotlight on an empty shop.
Languages and the diaspora
Beirut queries mix scripts. A dentist might be searched in English by a parent abroad and in Arabic by the patient downstairs. Put both names on the profile if both are true. The website should not hide the Arabic behind a machine toggle that breaks the letters. If French is how a hotel guest searches, that is a third page, not an afterthought plugin.
WhatsApp is still the close after they find you. The site and the profile should start that chat with context. Finding you and then waiting three hours for “yes we are in Hamra” is how they book the pin that answered faster.
What not to buy
Directories that promise “500 citations”. Mystery agencies that will not show you the login. Anyone who wants your Google password and then disappears. Rank guarantees. You should own the profile. You should own the website keys. If a vendor cannot explain the next two hours of work in plain language, do not pay for a year of “management”.
Do this in order
Search as a stranger. Claim the profile. Match the sign. Put the same facts on a website in Lebanon you control. Add real photos. Ask for real reviews. Wait. Measure with your own searches, not a vendor’s screenshot. For whether you need the site at all, read do I need a website. For how Instagram fits, read website vs Instagram. Questions owners ask
Why am I not on Google Maps?
Often nobody claimed the profile, the pin is under a personal Gmail, or the name does not match the sign. A website alone does not create a Maps pin. You still have to claim and verify the profile.
Is Instagram enough for Google?
Google can show social profiles. It prefers a page it can read plus a Business Profile with hours and a pin. Instagram is a weak substitute for either.
How long until I appear?
There is no honest fixed number. Verification, a matching website, and a few real reviews usually matter more than waiting a magic week. Anyone selling “first page in 48 hours” is selling anxiety.
Do I need to pay Google for ads to appear at all?
Ads are optional. Many local businesses appear in Maps and search without ads if the profile and website are in order. Ads can help; they are not the same as existing.
Arabic or English on Google?
People search both. Put the names customers actually type on the profile and on the site. A French name on the facade and an English-only page is how you miss half the queries.
Can a website replace Google Business Profile?
No. They should agree: same name, address, phone, hours. The site is yours. The profile is how Maps talks about you. Fight them and Google trusts neither.
